The Economist

I always liked the Economist ads. This was because they were intelligent, didn’t just cater for the lowest common denominator and targeted their existing readers rather than constantly looking for new readers and ignoring their heartland. The original ads were from AMV and here are a couple of my faves:

Here is the latest TV work from them. Stratgeically it differs from what has preceded it by being aimed at new audiences. I really hope that it maintains the intelligence and integrity of the old stuff and that the formats for the print ads stay the same. Things move on but there is something comforting about the old stuff and if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it…
